"The Emperor Tours his Kingdom"
It has been non-stop for Richie Scarlet so far this year! From January to May, he was touring constantly with Sebastian Bach and friends. From East to West, North to South, and back East again supporting that fantastic Baz album, "Bring 'Em Bach Alive" (get it!), Richie was in top form, with all that endless talent and energy exploding in a stream of cities left to rubble!!!! Seb and Richie Richie pays homage to Jimi Hendrix. The reviews by fans and critics alike confirmed that the current lineup of the band is the best in years. And speaking of Baz, he seems to be everywhere these days, from his stunning live shows to MTV, to CNN, and then to Broadway as the critically acclaimed "Jeckyll and Hyde"!
Above is a great pic of Richie playing acoustic guitar while on tour with Baz. If you've never heard him play acoustic, he's simply AMAZING!!!!!!
In North Dakota 2000 A.D., the boys were immortalized in cement:
May 22, 2001 It's official: Ace and Richie recorded two songs together for Richie's new CD. Both songs trade killer solos (Richie's words) with each other. Also, Richie back from a show in Pensacola mentioned hanging with football legend Kenny Stabler ("He was very cool, a real Southern Gentleman.") and Nazereth, ("They are some wild Scottsmen!"). Also, on the bill in Florida, a new band called American HIFI whose set Richie enjoyed. Declared the Emperor, "They had great RnR attitude."

" I'd climb in a phone booth and buy me some time" - "Masculine Intuition"
August 22, 2000 In a telephone conversation, Richie confirmed that he will be going back in the studio within a few weeks to record another CD of all new material. Without giving out names, Richie hinted that a number of special guests stars will make appearances. Richie says he is looking forward to recording with his old friends, the people at MillBrook Studios. Also pending are new dates with Richie touring with Leslie West which will be posted here as soon as they are firm. Richie also indicated that he is more than jazzed with his new website, especially the guestbook which he reads and appreciates the kind comments of support that he has seen there. In closing, he said to make sure to say Hi to his buddy Paul in the UK, Naja, and Stacey!!!!! "Hi!!!!" Thus endeth the audience with The Emperor.
September 22, 2000 - a note from Richie: "WELL, I JUST WROTE A NEW TUNE CALLED "THE GHOST OF BRIAN JONES". I JUST GOT DONE WORKING IT UP WITH NEAL [Smith] AND DENNIS [Dunaway] AT NEALS HOUSE. I AM GOING IN TO MILLBROOK STUDIOS OCTOBER 2NDWITH THEM TO RECORD IT". Which they did.
In October, Richie hit the studio to record his new collection of songs. In addition, to a bunch of killer new tunes, Richie has been playing with rock and roll royalty. In addition to Neal and Dennis from the original Cooper group, other guests include Buck Dharma from Blue Oyster Cult, drummer extrordinaire Anton Fig, and more.
Also, during October, Richie and Anton were joined by Ace Frehley for the Subway Series as Richie's Yankees went on to once again proove they are the team of the century (sorry Anton!!!) as the boys chilled at Richie's place and had some tape rolling at Millbrook for some incredible impromptu jams. Talk about havin' fun!
And speaking of fun, on the 19th, The Alice Cooper show once again hit Connecticut. This time the Emperor was there with his Empress Joann. While Richie had seen the original Cooper group many times in the early seventies, this was both his and Joann's first time to see the solo Alice and Joann had never seen Alice at all, but they were both just blown away by one of the best shows currently on the road. It certainly didn't hurt that most of Alice's band were old friends of Richie including Eric Singer and Ryan Roxie, both pals from other days.
While we're at it, check out these great shots of Alice Cooper 2000 on tour:
ALICE COOPER: 2000 AD on Earth - Not bad for "Eighteen! 34 years ago!" "Chiller
2000" At the end of October, Richie once again set up at the "Chiller" convention. "Best one yet!" Richie said recently. "I think after having performed there now for a couple of years, people have had the chance to see the act, and they've enjoyed it. It's just a blast to sell the CD's, video's, meet the fans and sign autographs. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and I love having the time to get to know the fans and the other guests".
Joan Scarlet, Richie, Cherie Curry (The Runaways) and Mark Goddard (Lost In Space) November 4, 2000: From Jeff Jatras (Torn Ticket Productions) "In, October, Richie hit the studio to record his new collection of songs. In addition, to a bunch of killer new tunes, Richie has been playing with rock and roll royalty. In addition to Neal and Dennis from the original Cooper group, other guests include Buck Dharma from Blue Oyster Cult, drummer extrordinaire Anton Fig, and more.
November 18, 2000: From Jeff Jatras (Torn Ticket Productions) Richie's swing through Florida was a treat for all involved as Leslie West w/Richie Scarlet on bass opened for Peter Frampton resulting in a great night of raw rock and roll! Both bands took the ecstatic audience to the next level with some of the best talent the area has seen in ages. With John Regan (Frehley's Comet) on bass for the ex-Humble Pie legend and solo megastar, it was old home week for the Wiseguy from New York. "I had a blast that night", Richie said recently. "It's always great playing with Leslie and when you have two bands like that on the same night, it just charges up everybody to push the edge of the envelope...and the result was near pandemonium!".
November 21, 2000: The Emperor says his new album has been coming along great! Eight songs are in the can already, co-produced with his old Red House cohort and bass player John Valenti. "Yeah, John's doing just a fantastic job", Richie said in a recent phone converation. "I'll do a solo and think it's gonna sound pretty good, and John will say to toss it. He says, "That's it for some other guitar great, but you're Richie Scarlet. So, let's do it again" and then that forces me to take it to the next level". Added Richie, "I've been with John a long time. He knows how to get the best out of me".
