Michael arrives at the
Iron Horse Inn in Clarion, IA. The Michael Bruce Group tour was scheduled around the
Glen Buxton Memorial Weekend so that the entire band would be able to attend and provide
entertainment for all those fans willing to travel to Clarion and pay tribute to
Glen. Above is a picture of Glen's folks, who are about the sweetest couple you'll
ever meet. Clarion had a number of good eateries, and that MB, Neal, and MB's
gal Heidi Heidelberg in front of one of them.
The memorial service for Glen drew quite a crowd. Paul Brenton
and Bill Risoli spent a lot of time, energy and money spearheading the creation of a
fitting final memorial to Glen. The stone was covered in black during the
ceremonies. However, amazed onlookers were gratified as GB's stone in the
form the cover to "School's Out" in black marble was finally unveiled, a
masterpiece of both beauty and good taste (Cooper style!). The pictures
below convey some of the atmosphere. If you look close in the crowd, you should see
many familiar faces. |
Many thanks to Paul
and Bill, whose hard work resulted in the best, beautiful, and lasting tribute to Glen
Buxton. When everything else is gone, the stone will always be there to tell the
tale. |
After the service, the
attendees began converging on downtown Clarion for food, drink, and merriment.
That's MB and Neal outside Willie's. Troy Powell, drummer for the MBG, co-ops
a motorcycle, and Heidi adds her radiance everywhere she goes, including this pic of MB
and Neal at lunch.
Later that night, Willie's was the sight of much music, including an
appearance by the Michael Bruce Group. Other fans and friends of Glen took the stage
for a once in a lifetime jam including Neal Smith, Mike Postel, Skip Ladd, and many of
Glen's other friends and bandmates through the years. |
